A walk in a forest (Private, Hunter & Kasi)

Jake walked into the perpetual forest with a sigh, it was a little hot outside, it was noon after all and all the other people were having lunch or hanging out at the mall. Jake didn't have many friends so he just wandered around the outskirts until he stumbled across the forest. It was rather foggy which was odd considering it was noon, but it was welcome due to the heat being less within the fog.

Jake had been walking for a good half an hour, exploring the perpetual forest, it seemed to lead him in rounds and rounds, he was beginning to wonder if he should just sprout his wings and fly out, but Jake didn't, he didn't have anything else to do so he continued to explore. Suddenly, he heard a twig snap to his right, Jake immediately turned around, "Who's there?" Jake asked.

Hunter sighed in relief as he strolled through the forest, the amber glow of his cigarette ember shining bright enough to pierce the fog. It had been a little while since he had some real time to himself since arriving at the school. Didn't even give him a little leeway since he was now. The day after he arrived, it was time for classes. Not to mention the fact that absolutely no-one approved of his smoking, "Just keep walkin' big boy!" He called, responding to Jake as he walked right by him, taking a long drag on his cigarette, "No-one's tryin' to get the jump on you." A small chuckle escaped from his lips when he leaned back to exhale a plume of sweet white smoke, "Then again, creatures like us are mysterious. Smile to your face, knife in your back. That kind of thing."

He couldn't really see who he was talking to, but that didn't stop him from being his usual self, "But I don't think you're going to move on now that I said something. Should have just kept my mouth shut, right?" He took another long drag on his cigarette before he flicked the butt into a small puddle, killing it instantly.

Jake stopped and stared at the smoking boy, he was tall, standing a 6'4" with black hair and steel grey eyes. Jake would've started walking again as the boy chuckled but he heard the comment about creatures.

Turning back around to face the boy who had just killed his cigarette. "I suppose you should have kept your mouth shut, by creatures you mean students of Darks University don't you? I haven't seen you around before. My name's Jake, Junior at Darks, what's yours?" Jake asked, deciding to be friendly.

Hunter turned to face Jake when he introduced himself. The young man popped another cigarette into his mouth and unbuttoned the blazer of his uniform, then he undid the white shirt to reveal the black wife beater he had on underneath. Once finished, made an attempt to light the cigarette, but his lighter was out of fluid,"Hunter, same year as you." he rested on hand on his hip while the other reached to pull the cancer stick from his lips, "You got a light?" He asked, holding the cigarette out to him, "Cause I could use one right about now!"

Jake stared at Hunter and shrugged, his fingerless gloves changing into the gauntlets that he wore in battle. Raising his right hand, Jake channeled his fire breathing powers into the gauntlet and a bud of fire the size one would normally see from a lighter appeared on top of his index finger, "Here." Jake offered. Jake didn't really care much about other people's habits, if this boy wanted to get lung cancer it wasn't any of his business, he might as well help him.

Hunter bent over slightly to reach the flame, sucking on the cigarette to ensure the tobacco caught. He was a little wary about putting his face so close to the guy's claw... Glove... Thing? Just in case things took a turn for the worse, his seal activated. The only sign or a change was in his right palm that he had tucked in his pocket, "Much obliged. Why buy a lighter when there are people like you around?" He chuckled lightly at his own joke and took a drag before assuming his earlier position, "Got any more cool tricks to show me?"

Jake chuckled at the joke slightly before extinguishing the flame and deciding to answer, "Not unless you wanna have a spar. It'd be much easier that way." And I don't want you to have an edge on me if we ever DO have a spar in the future. Jake added in his head as he finished his sentence.

Jake also wondered why the boy didn't just use his hands to bring the cigarette to the flame instead of bending his face down closer towards his gauntlet, perhaps the boy wanted to keep his hands close to a possible weapon in his pocket? Or maybe he was hiding his seal like Jake did with his fingerless gloves.

Hunter shrugged at the suggestion and said, "Well I can't say no now. I'm curious about what you can do!" He said, exhaling a plume of smoke, "But I took a small gamble in putting my face right next to those nasty looking gauntlets of yours. One false move and I would end up missing a couple pieces. Lighting cigarettes is more than just holding it to a flame, gotta inhale a bit to make sure the tobacco inside is lit." He took another drag and tapped the ashes, "Let's try not to get too extreme here. I don't feel like dealing with a forest fire, Sparks. We can start whenever you want to attack. I'm looking foreword to it!"

Jake smirked at the boy's answer, Hunter seemed to be an interesting person, confident in his fighting abilities too. Just the kind of guy Jake loved to have fights against. "Sure, I'll keep the fire to a minimum. I'm excited about this, can't wait to find out about your power." With that, Jake went into a dash towards Hunter, an arm positioned low, ready to give the boy an uppercut to the chin, with the three claws on his knuckles it would be really painful to the boy, considering that his gauntlets were made of titanium after all.

When Jake lunged foreword for the uppercut, Hunter took a quick step backwards and leaned just enough so the gauntlet would miss. Then he took his left leg and kicked outward, aiming to drive it directly into Jake's exposed torso. The spikes of the gauntlet barely brushed passed the tip of his cigarette, knocking off the ashes. In the event that his kick landed, Jake would get a nice taste of what his ability was. Not only would it hurt, but the concussive blast would send the guy flying backward into one of the thicker trees, "Pretty sure I would be out of commission if that thing hit me in the chin, Sparks. Trying to impale a guy through the chin isn't exactly 'sparring' in my book. Be a little careful about that."

Jake quickly used his free hand to block the kick aimed at his torso, he was pleasantly surprised at he was pushed back a considerable distance, "Hmm, you're right, better tone my weapon down a little then." The gauntlets transformed back into his fingerless gloves as Jake spoke. "Nice kick you did there though. Enhanced strength?" Jake asked as he went into a dash again, quicker than he was the first time, he aimed a punch to Hunter's cheek with his left arm and prepared his right arm for a punch to the gut while Hunter was distracted by the first hit.

Hunter took a drag on his cigarette as Jake charged right back in his direction. It seemed that he enjoyed foreword approaches. That would prove to be both a gift and a curse, "Now that the lethal force is out of the way..." Hunter was sure to keep his breath held in when both fists came flying in his direction. The problem with double fist punches was that with both arms out, it would take away many viable defense options, "It's not that simple, guy!" He caught both fists with his hands, wincing when the gloves slammed right into the palms. The punches hurt like hell, more than any average human gave. Then he pushed both arms out to expose him again before taking a deep breath through his nose and blew the trapped smoke right into Jake's face to mask his next move.

As soon as his little smoke screen was up, Hunter threw his head foreword as hard as he could, aiming the center of his forehead directly at the bridge of Jake's nose. The force generated would be more than enough to smash in the front of the average human face, but Hunter already knew that this guy was a little more durable. So it would probably be only enough to crack his nose.

Jake smirked as Hunter winced at the force of his punches, he took a deep breath as Hunter pushed his arms out to expose him for an attack, preparing a fireball as Hunter did this. Jake however, did not expect the improvised smoke screen and was temporarily blinded by it, a forehead then smashed into his nose immediately, it was probably cracked, but Jake ignored it for the time being. Using this opportunity, Jake quickly tilted his head back a little and jumped up slightly before kicking out with both legs at Hunter's exposed torso, both of Hunter's arms were still occupied hold Jake's arms after all.

There was no real way to avoid the next hit, so Hunter just braced himself. Both of Jake's feet slammed directly into his solar plexus, causing him to gag on his own cigarette smoke. The force knocked him right on his back, but he followed through and got right back to his feet, "That smarts...." He said, rubbing his stomach, "I'll have to pay you back for that!" Hunter took another drag on his cigarette and broke off into a sprint. Unlike Jake, he ran in a serpentine pattern to deter any ranged attacks the guy had planned. At three feet away, Hunter jumped up and stomped into the ground as hard as he could to shake the earth before blowing the smoke into his face once again. Then he spun around for a backward thrust kick aimed directly at Jake's own solar plexus in an attempt to repay him for the earlier attack. Not only was the normal kick forceful, but there was the added force of his ability that fired of as well.

Jake smirked at Hunter as he watched the boy fall onto his back, he quickly dropped his legs onto the ground and jumped back as the boy took a drag of his cigarette and broke off into a sprint, why was he running in a serpentine pattern? To gain momentum possibly, or maybe it was just to avoid his fireballs, he had demonstrated them earlier after all. Deciding not to risk it due to his experience with Hunter's enhanced strength earlier, Jake quickly discarded his jacket and threw it onto a low branch as Hunter jumped up and stomped into the ground, shaking the earth. Jake's eyes widened at the move and he immediately jumped up himself, avoiding the smoke being blown at him and sprouting his wings before flying higher into the air just as Hunter spun around for a backward thrust kick.

Jake immediately retaliated with a spray of fireballs the size of tennis balls, roughly 6 of them flew towards Hunter. Jake took the distraction as a chance to climb higher into the air. "I'm afraid you'll have to try harder then that!" Jake taunted as the fireballs flew close to the smoker.

Hunter cursed when Jake leaped up with a flap of his wings, right out of his range. It looked like the guy had more than a few abilities wrapped up in a package. Once he noticed the fireballs headed directly at him, Hunter danced around them although there were a few singe marks on his clothing. In response to the taunt, he raised his middle finger and flicked his spent cigarette butt away, "I'm not going up there, so you may as well come back. Trying to jump with you would be very, very stupid." He felt a light burning sensation on his forearm and slapped the small fire out before it could get to his skin, "Buuut..." Hunter performed a quick 360 kick that slammed directly into the trunk of a tree right next to him, shattering the point of contact. As it fell right on top of him, Hunter dropped into a squatting position and could feel every muscle in his body strain in preparation for the next move.

With a roar he shot up as hard as he could and blasted the remains of the tree right in Jake's direction. The trunk shattered right on impact and sent hundreds of thousands of wooden splinters and sharp shrapnel right at his opponent, "I'll have to bring you right back down here with me, won't I?"

Jake's eyes widened at the move, while it wasn't threatening to him in the least, it was impressive that Hunter could do that to the tree, it was definitely more than just enhanced strength that Hunter had. "You'll still have to try harder then that to get me!" Jake taunted as he flapped his powerful wings a few times, blowing the wooden splinters and shrapnel into random directions before they fell harmlessly onto the ground.

Jake then dived down towards Hunter's position, gathering strength for his flames as he did so. Once Jake reached five feet of Hunter, he swerved to the right and spun around, stomping his leg onto the ground and kicking off into a high speed dash towards the smoker, aiming a high powered punch at the boy's bicep, at the speed of his dive, Hunter should've had trouble keeping up with his movements. Just in case Hunter would sidestep or dodge, Jake readied a kick with one of his legs.

The main problem with a dive was that even if the person was fast, it wouldn't be extremely hard to determine just where he was going. The speed would have been a problem if they were fighting somewhere out in the open, but there were too many obstacles in a forest to maneuver so fast with large wings like Jake had. The guy was fast, but Hunter was resourceful. As soon as Jake landed and dashed in his direction for the punch, Hunter ducked right under it. He dropped low enough to avoid the kick and delivered a low spinning kick of his own aimed directly at his opponent's leg, aiming his shin at the side of Jake's knee.

Damn, his kick missed, the forest had too many obstacles for Jake to fly at full speed. Noticing a spinning kick coming, Jake spun as well, dodging the kick and sending hunter flying Hunter away with his wing, it was tougher than steel after all. While Hunter was flying away, Jake landed on the ground and retracted his wings, "I'll stick to fighting on the land, it's a little too irritating to use my wings in here." Jake called out to his opponent. Jake grinned, this fight was fun, and Hunter could do some damage, that made it even more fun. Jake decided to start storing up more flames in him just in case Hunter decided to do one of his smoke screens again.

Just as Jake was about to flap a wing to knock him back, Hunter rose up with his left arm and slammed his fist right into it. The concussive blasts he gave were strong enough to create serious failures in steel. So even if the wing was tough, blunt force trauma would still do a number on the bones holding it together. Once the immediate danger of being slapped away was done, Hunter would hook his front leg around Jake's exposed one and sweep upward in an attempt to knock him on his back. From there he would slam his other fist into the guy's stomach. But even while he did this, Hunter was sure to keep himself on balance and firmly rooted to the ground. That way, he would be able to defend himself if need be.

Jake winced as he felt the bones in his left wing break, dammit that guy was strong. Jake quickly drew back his leg as Hunter tried to hook it, using his working wing, Jake gave a hard flap that managed to propel Jake away from the smoker. As Jake flew through the air, he retracted his wings, no sense in keeping them out if this guy could break them so easily. Jake then spat out three fireballs, each around the same size as a basketball, this was mainly to distract him and give Jake time to think of a plan. "Damn, you sure can hit hard." Jake said with a grin as the fireballs flew towards him. Jake wouldn't win in a fist fight, that was for sure, he would have to use his brains for this.

Hunter shook off the pain in his aching hand and blew on his knuckles as if they were covered in dust. Before he could even try to taunt Jake, he had to dodge another ball of fire. The first two still singed his clothing, but the third smacked him square in the chest. Not only did the thing burn a hole right through the uniform, but the impact knocked him right off of his feet again. He slammed into the ground with a loud thud and groaned, "The same can be said about these fuckin' balls..." While the chest of his clothing was still on fire, Hunter decided to make a small joke out of it and lit another cigarette before patting it out,"Now I have to buy another uniform. This one's all fucked up." He said as he rose to his feet, taking another stance similar to the one he had earlier. One hand was on his cigarette while the other rested on his hip. Even though he looked oblivious to fighting, he was still limber enough keep going, "Try not to give me third degree burns, alright?"

Jake frowned in thought as Hunter lit another cigarette with the flame on his shirt, Hunter's punch wasn't as strong the first time Jake got hit. Was he holding back? No, there was no reason to hold back. Something changed and made Hunter stronger, maybe he gained energy from movement and his ability wasn't simple enhanced strength. Deciding to go with this theory, Jake spat out another fireball, it was the same size as the ones he spat out earlier, the size of a basketball. Jake then dashed behind the fireball, aiming an uppercut to Hunter's chin just like at the beginning of the fight. This time though, instead of a second punch that would follow the uppercut, Jake would spin around and thrust his foot forward in an attempt to kick Hunter's torso.

When the most recent fireball came flying in his direction, Hunter brought his arm up and blocked it. The thing burned like hell and fried the sleeve of his uniform, but it was better than being smacked in the chest again. With the same forearm that blocked the fireball, he knocked the uppercut attempt to the side and spun right around to give Jake his back. Just as the kick came up, Hunter delivered a kick of his own. His own legs were longer than his opponent's so since he was already extended out plus the reach advantage, Hunter was sure that he would come out on top in that exchange. With the motion gained from that burst of movement, if the kick landed he would knock Jake right into the air. He didn't plan on chasing after him, though. After all the guy still had another wing to work with.

Jake smirked as the fireball was blocked by Hunter's arm, those seemed to be the most effective right now, he was a little irritated that Hunter managed to come up with a way to counter his kick but quickly braced himself for impact. Jake was sent into the air, he went with the movement and spun backwards, moving away from the smoker as he sprouted out a single wing, using it to propel himself back towards Hunter. As Jake flew, he shot out three tennis ball sized blasts of fire and went into a spinning drop kick aimed at Hunter's shoulder, retracting his wing as he spun.
