Birds of A Feather Empty Birds of A Feather

Post by Hunter Kieff Tue May 01, 2012 3:12 am

The dull patter of rain against the pavement seemed to drown out sounds of the unusually quiet city streets. Hunter assumed that there weren't many people that enjoyed the weather as much as he did, so he had most of the street to himself. There was the occasional person or two that hailed a cab to escape the rain but other than that, it was rather empty. The feeling was soothing as well as unsettling. So many people lived here, but very few were out. With a deep sigh, Hunter finished off the cigarette he had clamped between his lips and flicked the butt away. It died instantly against the wet ground. Unlike the times he had wandered about Megiddo before, he wasn't wearing his uniform. Instead he had on a black sleeved shirt and a pair of black jeans. On top of that he wore black tennis shoes that repelled the rain rather than soak it in, "It's much calmer than usual..." He muttered to himself as the rain pelted his body, "I wonder if there's a reason for that."

A Black Nissan Skyline R34 drifted around the corner almost oversteering into a spin out due to the wet streets. However the car was corrected and slowly pulled up alongside Hunter. The window rolled down and a familiar voice came from inside the car. "Hey Hunter! It's Rayne, man." He laughed as he stopped the car. If he cared to notice the car looked pretty stock on the outside, however the break pads were black and aftermarket. The exhaust was magnaflow and made the Skyline sound even better.

Hunter's head snapped up when he could hear the screeching tires against the pavement and furrowed his brow when the car pulled up next to him. He wasn't quite sure what was going on until he heard a familiar voice coming from the vehicle. It was an old friend of his, Rayne. It didn't take him very long to register the information and he stepped up to the car with a smile, stopping about a foot from it, "How have you been, brother?"

Rayne smiled, "Good, you? You can get in if you want. I'm just drifting around, then I have to head back to my garage to change my back tires." He revved the engine a little bit and looked at the screen on his dash checking engine temps, fuel gauges, and psi gauges. He looked behind him and saw a cop start to creep up on them, "If you're coming with get in now and buckle the hell up."

Hunter took notice of the cop cat that pulled up and slipped into the car without a second thought. Even though he was in a completely different country, he still didn't enjoy being around the police. Every other time he spotted them, he ended up in a mini interrogation, "I suggest we move. He might be looking for a reason to pull your ass over." Hunter said as he buckled himself in, "I hope you're a competent driver." The last comment was a bit of a challenge, he wanted to see just how well his friend could maneuver in the rain.

Rayne smirked, "Looks like there's gonna be a little chase then." He pushed down on the gas to get rolling and then just slammed on the gas, upshifting into second right before he drifted around the corner. He turned the wheel the other way and then drifted into an alleyway. The police cars was on his tail until he upshifted into third going 120mph down a narrow alleyway. He slowed down and downshifted as they reached the end of the alleyway and drifted into on-coming traffic, and then onto another alleyway. He looked over at Hunter and laughed, "This is how I make my money, man!"

Hunter placed a hand on the 'oh shit' handle when Rayne took off, jerking his head back a bit when he floored it. He had a feeling that Rayne was a crazy driver, but he had no idea that the man was just that crazy, "If you get us killed, I'm kicking your ass in the afterlife. You can count on that!"

Rayne chuckled as he floored it through the alleyway, he upshifted into third gear and then downshifted back into second as he drifted onto a one-way and floored the accelerator as they weaved in and out of traffic. He saw sirens on offshoots of the road they were on. He upshifted again and continued to speed down the one-way. He pulled the hand break and drifted onto a four lane road the rose up above the other roads. He upshifted into fifth as he weaved in and out of more cars, "Look behind us, do you seen police cars?" He was trying to concentrate on not rear ending someone. He down shifted once as he had to slow down to pass under the trailer of a semi, and then upshifted again as he floored the accelerator.

Hunter looked over his shoulder and spotted a row of police vehicles in hot pursuit. Rayne was lucky they didn't try to cut him off by now, "I have a nice way to get em' off of our tail. Check this out." He smiled and rolled up his sleeves to reveal the serpent seal on his right arm, activating it shortly after.

Hunter took a deep breath to calm himself down before he opened the passenger door and climbed out, standing on the roof. He could feel the wind and rain screaming past his entire body and leaped right off the back of the vehicle. The police cars were speeding right in his direction and from the momentum he had, his next move would cause millions of dollar's worth of damage. As soon as he slammed his fist into the ground, there was a shockwave that blasted every police vehicle right back for about ten meters. His own body rested in a large crater that began to fill with rainwater. There wasn't any way they would be able to follow Rayne through that. With a shout, Hunter initiated his ability once again to leap right out of the crater and broke off into a full sprint to reach Rayne's car again. There was no way he could go any faster than about 80mph in his current condition. That kind of maneuver earlier was enough to drain him quite a bit.

Rayne laughed, "Oh fuck." He down shifted four times into first. He was going about 40mph now and waited until Hunter got in to speed the fuck up, "I'm gonna have to get a new body kit and paint job now. You didn't need to blow up the road. This car can go up to 215mph." He slammed on the accelerator and they were back at 175mph. He looked over at Hunter, "That was cool as fuck though." He swerved in and out of more cars and then turned onto an older road. He pushed his thumb onto a box on his visor and it scanned his thumb and beeped. A garage door opened on their right and Rayne pulled into the garage.

Hunter raised his fist for a bump when he managed to hop back into the car, soaked right to the bone, "I know it was a little overkill, but now they'll know not to fuck around with you! Can't wait to see the footage on youtube or something. That would be pretty intense, right?" He knew that he really abused his powers with that one, but at least nobody was seriously injured. If the staff back at the school found out it was him, that would spell some big trouble. Then again, he didn't have his uniform on, "How the hell can you afford like this?"

Rayne turned the car off and opened the door, "Racing. It's tax free and if you're good enough you win 90% of the races." He laughed as the garage door closed. He pressed a button the wall and the car was lifted into the air and another car came up from under it. He then walked into the main room and looked into his fridge, "Hey, you want something to drink? Grab a cup and select a button on the drink dispenser." And of course as he said that a box came out of the island with pictures of different kinds of drinks, "You can mix different ones if you want, too." He pressed an LED screen and a TV on the other side of the room came on.

Hunter nodded to Rayne as he rummaged through the cupboards for a glass to use. Right before he touched it, he decided to re-seal his powers just in case it accidentally fired off. He was good with them, but there were times when it just broke something because he moved too fast. He found the drink contraption a little too different so he just got a glass of tap water from the sink, "I knew racing could earn you some cash... But this much stuff is just overwhelming. Can't wrap my head around it."

Rayne chuckled, ,"Well, there's more illegal stuff like stealing from Mobs, stealing right out of Mobs bank accounts. Keeping tabs on people that don't want to be found, or are running from somewhere, like Russia." He walked into a hallway opposite of the garage and the walked into the first room on the right, the whole room was a Faraday Cage, "This is how I track people, it is how I hack into multinational corporate conglomerates. And it's how I know you're running from a lie, and the law in Russia. And I know about Damien, and I know the real story." He sighed as he clicked a few keys on the closest keyboard.

Birds of A Feather Empty Re: Birds of A Feather

Post by Hunter Kieff Wed May 02, 2012 1:15 am

As soon as Rayne mentioned his little brother, something snapped in his mind. He never told anyone about his time in Russia. His mother, Valencia stuck to her story the entire time. Hunter took the knife that killed Damien with him and he was the last person to touch his corpse. He was also the person that blasted his own father through the window. In the eyes of everyone who saw the story on the news, he was guilty of it all. There was no 'real story' to be known. Only his mother's. The very thought of his little brother being spoken of was enough to really upset him. He struggled to keep himself under control, but his seal just shot to a bright red before it molded into its black, spiny form. Once released, the glass in his hand shattered and blood began to fall from each cut in it, "You don't know anything... Please don't pretend to." Hunter said quietly, his voice shaking, "The only story out there is that I'm a murderer. Nothing more, nothing less."

"I know that your father was a drunk, and that you weren't there to protect your little brother. And I know this drunken abuse went on for a while and wasn't reported by your mother. What do you think I deduced from just hearing that? I know Damien had a stab wound in his chest. I know you wouldn't of done that, you loved your little brother. You saw him lying there and attacked the shell of a man that once was and you killed him, your mother panicked and said you did it to protect the image of a now dead man. Why, why would she do that to her son? She knew you'd run. She wanted a better life for you than the one you had. She didn't want you to end up in jail. So she said you did it to get you free."

Birds of A Feather Empty Re: Birds of A Feather

Post by Hunter Kieff Wed May 02, 2012 2:02 am

Hunter was growing even more agitated with each second that went by. Rayne was wrong about his mother. She didn't give a damn about him or Damien, "Stop pretending you know me like that!" he shouted, "That bitch didn't care about me or Damien. If she wanted a better life for me, she would have told the fucking truth. I had a damn good reason to push that bastard out of the window, and she refused to see that. Every time we got beat up by Sergei, she turned the other cheek as if nothing was happening. After that, she would go back to her room and FUCK him! It wasn't to turn attention away from us either. I know you're trying to clear things up, but you don't know her as well as I do." Hunter was struggling to stand still. At this point any kind of real movement would break something, "She had the potential to stop it all by calling the police, but instead she called them because I killed her man. Then she turned around and said that I killed my own little brother and made an attempt to kill her, too." Hunter ran a hand through his hair and took a deep breath, "You weren't there, so I can't expect you to understand."

Rayne held his arms out in a hug, "I understand more than you realize man. Do you really think I would say this to piss you off? I understand what happened. Honestly tell me, if you weren't on the run would you not have killed yourself? Would you not have found, Togi, and I?" Rayne took a step towards Hunter, "The reason you feel this way is because you're too close to the problem. She loved you, but was scared. Didn't you ever notice the tears in her eyes?"

Hunter furrowed his brow as Rayne continued to explain his point of view. A part of what he was saying made sense, but there was still no way for him to know the gravity of his situation, "Please, Rayne... She didn't care about either of us. I watched her walk past the phone every time we were getting beaten. Sometimes she would leave the home in general. You don't know how many chances she had to get us out of that mess." His voice sounded more like pleading rather than anger, "It took two deaths for the gravity of the situation to break through her thick skull. She was scared OF me not FOR me. Don't get the two confused."

Rayne sighed, "Maybe I'm wrong which I doubt." He turned around as his computer beeped, "Shut the door to the cage behind you -right now-!" He started typing on the closest keyboard and then moved to one to his left. His fingers flew over the keyboards as he typed, "No, no, no." He grabbed his cellphone and started tapping away on the touch screen. He moved back to the main computer. And tapped away furiously, "Son of a bitch, who is doing this?" He continued to type furiously until he just said fuck it and ripped the hard drives out of each computer, "That's a good way to make sure they don't get your info."

Hunter seemed even more confused than upset at that point in time. But when Rayne's computer began beeping, he didn't need to be told to slam that door shut. Judging from his friend's reaction, something must have been going down. Rayne flitted around from his computer to his phone in an attempt to stop what was happening but eventually he gave up on that, choosing to tear the tower apart instead, "Who are 'they' and what the hell are you talking about?" Get his info? Hunter was aware about his being wanted in his home country, but he had a feeling that things were about to get a little more complicated, "And to think this all started with a stroll in the rain." He ran a hand through his hair and sighed deeply.

Rayne turned around, "I don't know, someone was trying to bruteforce my firewall and with the speed they were actually getting through I could only assume military grade hardware. I don't really know how much they know, but I know for certain they think my computer is in Antarctica. Gladly I was fast enough to re-route my IP through six different places and had the last stop in Antarctica as I ghosted my IP through seven more places and then back here. They might eventually figure out I'm not in Antarctica, but they're gonna have to do it themselves. Basically all the power for the computer is masked by the Faraday Cage." Rayne stood up and walked out, he waited for Hunter to leave as well, he pulled the cage door shut and then jump up and grabbed onto the bottom of the brick door frame. It came down and seamlessly locked into place, "Now if they do find my place, and do break in. They're not going to find a computer."

Hunter furrowed his brow, unable to follow any of the tech stuff that Rayne just fired in his direction. Even if it was all in english, it sounded like gibberish, "I'm just gonna guess you have everything under control!" He said, a smile of ignorance on his face. He assumed that Rayne would get the hint that he wasn't too great when it came to technology. Hell, he didn't even own a cell phone, "So... Any ideas about what I should do just in case your whole... Rayne walked out to the living room, "Well, if it didn't work they'll try to get in here only to realise the walls are four feet of concrete, the garage door can take anything short of a rocket launcher. And if the garage door is opened without my fingerprint the building blows up from about three hundred pounds of C4 in a concrete vault two feet under us." He smiled at Hunter as he said that. He turned the TV on and spoke up, "Do you think that's enough of a safety measure?"

Hunter flinched at the thought of more plastic explosive than the military two feet under him. He wouldn't be able to sleep at night, "That's very, very dangerous. Not only would it kill whoever opened it, but that's enough to level just about everything around us." Hunter followed Rayne out to the living room and folded his arms, "Then again, there's no kill like overkill."
