Pancakes and Maple Syrup

Matthieu walked into the cafeteria in her baggy bunny hug and jeans, craving for that sweet sticky substance called maple syrup. She clung tightly to Kumajiro as she walked to a table in the corner and sat in one of the chairs closest to the wall. She looked around to make sure no one in the area noticed her as she pulled out a small bottle of her secret stash of delicious goodness. Holding Kumajiro in the crook of her elbow she twisted off the steel bottle and held it up to her nose, breathing in the warm scent deeply gave her mouth a tingly sensation as if she had just caught the metallic scent of blood. Leaning her head back the maple syrup slowly poured into her mouth, satisfying her hunger for the moment. Licking her lips she savoured the taste happily. She glanced around once more before taking another swig from her bottle.

((Short, yes. To any of you whom join I just want to forewarn you that my replies will be slow so I hope you do not mind waiting on me :,D))

Jake walked into the cafeteria, wearing his usual jacket over a white buttoned shirt with an unfurled collar and a loose red tie, black jeans, pair of sneakers with his trademark fingerless gloves. He looked around the cafeteria and noticed that it wasn't as crowded as he thought it'd be, Guess everyone's out in the Megiddo or something, Jake thought.

Jake was about to go and grab his choice of food, a bowl of noodles, before a distinctive scent, the smell of blood, reached his sensitive nose, he turned to the source of the smell and saw a close to his age with short, wavy blonde hair wearing a baggy bunny hug and jeans, drinking from a steel bottle where the scent of blood was coming from.

Curious, Jake went up to the girl from behind her and asked, "Why are you drinking blood? Are you some sort of vampire or something?" Jake supposed it was a little too blunt but considering the school he was in, it wouldn't be surprising if the girl did turn out to be a vampire.

Startled from a voice coming behind her, Matthieu jumped "M-maple!!" she cried out although it sounded more like a whispered squeak. A little of her drink spilled out from her bottle unto the table. "Oh no!!" she squeaked again watching her favourite maple syrup drop. She clung onto Kumajiro as she turned to look at man no older than she was. She stared at him, before realizing he asked her whether or not she was a vampire. "Ah, um, i-it's a-a . . . " she stammered, her voice getting quieter and quieter as she spoke. She cheeks were a light pink from the unexpected question leading her to hide her face from the man behind her bear whimpering slightly.

Jake raised an eyebrow, maple? It sounded like it was used more like a curse word, watching the girl's actions, Jake had to stop himself from chuckling as she hid her face behind her bear and whimpered slightly. "Calm down, calm down. It was just a joke, jeez lighten up a little will you?" Jake told the girl, the humor in his voice easily identifiable.

"My name's Jake, I'm a junior. What's your name?" Jake would've extended his hand to shake but the girl didn't seem like the kind to do that so he just kept his hands to himself. Looking over at the small patch of something from the girl's bottle, Jake confirmed that it was blood, that definitely made him more curious about the girl.

She looked up at the man whom addressed himself as Jake. After taking a moment to calm herself a bit more she brought Kumajiro downfor she could speak, although it didn't make a difference. "M-my name is Matthieu Williams . . ." she said quietly, saying her name with a french slur, "I'm a-a freshm-man . . ." She hugged Kumajiro tightly and took deep breaths, closing her violet eyes tightly wishing she would turn invisible like she used to.

Jake held back a frown and forced a smile on his face, what was wrong with this girl? He couldn't have scared her that much with his first words could he? "I see, nice to meet you Matthieu. Odd drink you have there though." Jake said in a cheerful tone, his smile still present on his face as he pointed a finger to Matthieu's steel bottle. He wanted to know more about the girl, she seemed very interesting, especially with the blood drinking and all.

Matthieu stared at her bottle, resting her chin on her bear. "Ahm . . . i-it's maple syrup?" she said twisting the lid on it and placed it in her pocket. She brought her violet eyes to his smile, wondering why he could be so happy. But then she remember the mess that was made when she jumped. Muttering 'maple' again she grabbed a napkin and attempted to wipe it up which turned out to be more difficult because it already began to dry.

Jake had to raise an eyebrow at that one, seriously? Maple syrup of all things? He decided to pressure the girl a little more, "Are you sure? I could've sworn that it was red and I smelt blood. Blood's scent if very distinctive you know?" Jake wondered if he pushed it a little too far but waited as the girl muttered maple again as she grabbed a napkin and tried to wipe the mess she made earlier up, keyword being tried as the blood had already dried up slightly. "Aaaaand I'm pretty sure that maple syrup doesn't dry up so fast." Jake added, dragging out the 'and' in his sentence, just for fun.

Matthieu began feeling very flustered and her cheeks began to warm up again. "I--it's nothing," she quietly, "r--really" she added blushing even deeper. She wondered why her kept pestering her so much, it reminded her of home. Home. That seem like it was so long ago, but an eternity of loneliness. She kept rubbing at the mess she made, but then she realized how much she was squishing Kumajiro she gasped, "Oh Kumamura! Je suis desole!!!" She cried out holding him out at arm's length then hugging him gently.

Jake raised an eyebrow at Matthieu's actions, it was quite amusing watching the girl gasp at the fact that she was suffocating her stuffed bear, "Oookay, I'm gonna go get some food before more people start to come in, would you like anything?" Jake asked, deciding to give the girl some space before he questioned her again, she was starting to resemble a tomato with her blush earlier. Giving her some space now was definitely the best course of action, he was probably pestering her a little too much.

When Jake asked it she wanted any food Matthieu happily answered "Pancakes if you could find some!!" in her whisper of a voice. She took her seat once again patting Kumajiro for comfort and whispering to him the joys of warm pancakes for lunch with maple syrup smothered all over it in french.

Jake raised an eyebrow at the sudden burst of happiness but pushed it aside and quickly walked over to queue up for his food before the line got too long. He couldn't help but chuckle slightly as he heard Matthieu speak something in french to her stuffed bear, it was so soft that Jake could only hear it due to his acute senses.

Once he reached the front of the line, Jake quickly ordered a bowl of noodles with some dumplings for himself and some pancakes with maple syrup for Matthieu, luckily since it was in the school the food was for free, Jake balanced the two trays of food in each hand and walked back to where Matthieu was sitting.

"Here you go, the queue wasn't as long as I thought it'd be. The other students are probably out in the megiddo or something." Jake said as he placed the tray in front of the odd girl, a fork and knife wrapped in a napkin placed at the side of the tray.

With that done, Jake went to the seat opposite and Matthieu and set his tray down on the table, normally he would eat something italian but he was in the mood for some noodles right now. He started eating his meal at a moderate pace.

Matthieu smiled sweetly as she silently rejoiced in acquiring those flat, fluffy delicious things called pancakes which were enveloped in sweet, sticky goodness called maple syrup. Fangs slowly beginning to protrude, she took up her sword(knife) and shield(fork) and began her siege against the the round monsters. She was just about to decapitate a round monster's leg(cut a piece off the pancake) when her nose caught a whiff of some disgusting concoction known as noodles and dumplings. Gagging she quickly grabbed a napkin and covered her mouth with one hand and pinched her nostrils shut with the other. Kumajiro falling out of her lap in the commotion.
She glared at the wall, not daring to look at the gross food only a little bit away from her. She swallowed repeatedly trying to get the horrible scent out and to stop anything she had recently swallowed earlier from coming out the same way.

Jake paused, he wasn't hearing any sound from Matthieu, that meant that she wasn't eating. Looking up he noticed that she had her mouth and nose covered as if she were disgusted and trying not to puke. "Is something wrong Matthieu?" Jake asked, slightly concerned about the girl. If anything it made him more suspicious about her actually being a vampire, a pancake and maple syrup obsessed vampire.... Jake had to use all his control to not burst out laughing and keep up the slightly concerned look on his face as that thought passed his mind. It was hilarious thinking about a vampire that was obsessed with pancakes and maple syrup, and probably blood as well if the steel bottle just now was any indication.

Matthieu heard him, but didn't want to answer, so instead she gestured with her head towards his food. She was afraid to let go of her nose and uncover her mouth because a) she didn't like the feeling of throwing up and b) no one wants partly digested blood all over the place disturbing their eating. Even just looking at the food sent her gag reflexes wild, so she tried her best to just glare at Jake and not the food.

Jake raised an eyebrow, either she was allergic to noodles and dumplings or she couldn't tolerate the scent of other food. Jake hurriedly finished the rest of his meal and placed the tray onto another table away from Matthieu, no sense in having her glare at him any longer than necessary right? Jake then returned to his seat, "So what was wrong? Was it the smell or something?" Jake asked the odd blood drinking girl.

Releasing the breath she held in a sigh of relief when the food was gone, Matthieu hugged Kumajiro and once again attacked her food. While she ate she explained after swallowing each bite "Solid food is revolting" she said quietly, "I can't really eat anything except pancakes and maple syrup, and . . ." Her voice trailed off as she mopped up the rest of the maple syrup on her plate with a dry piece of pancake. She took care of her tray and was once again huddled with Kumajiro in her seat.

Jake frowned slightly, "Really? That's not very healthy, what about fruits and vegetables? Don't you need to eat that?" Jake asked, mainly out of curiosity then concern. That idea of a pancake and maple syrup obsessed vampire was becoming more and more believable, but he wouldn't push it, questioning Matthieu would probably just result in her shutting up and hiding before her stuffed bear again or claiming that it was maple syrup in the steel bottle.

"F-Fruits? Yuck" Matthieu stuck her tongue out at the thought, "And vegetables? Geez you sound like my mom." She slapped a hand over her mouth realizing what she said. She turned her chair so that she faced the wall then cover her face with Kumajiro once again. Ugh, how could I be so careless?? she thought, Just like my brother . . .

Jake held back a grin as Matthieu slapped a hand over her mouth, "Oh come on, that wasn't very nice. I was just wondering." Jake said, whining slightly as Matthieu turned her chair to face the wall and cover her face with her stuffed bear again. Jake got up from his seat, walking over to Matthieu, "Don't do that again. It's not like you said anything that bad." Jake said as he walked. Once he reached the hiding girl he raised a hand and poked the strand of hair that was sticking out of her head, "By the way, don't you comb your hair or something when you wake up? There's a strand sticking out over here." Jake said, poking it again.

Matthieu's face heated up to what felt like a hundred degrees as she released a gasp which sounded more like a squeak. "D-D-D-Don't - - - " She gasped as he poke her ahoge. Her body began to quiver a bit and her breath deepened. She released another gasp as he poke it again, "S-s-st-top . . . " she whimpered slightly. She bit her bottom lip to stop her lip from releasing any other noise. What she didn't realize was that her fangs were protruding from the feeling of intense pleasure and punctured the skin of her lips, which began to bleed slightly.

Jake stared as Matthieu gasped at his pokes, odd, the girl was whimpering now. His eyes widened slightly as he saw fangs protruding from her mouth as she bit her bottom lip, causing it to bleed slightly. Jake backed away slightly, while he was sure that he could take this girl out in a fight, there was no reason to not be cautious. "What happened?" Was all Jake asked as he stared at the whimpering and blushing girl, it was weird, all he did was poke a strand of hair on her head. Idly, Jake wondered what would happen if he continued poking it, he didn't try his luck though. It was obvious that she was a vampire now, or at least something that drank blood and had fangs...

Matthieu licked away the blood, slightly aroused by the intense feelings brought by her ahoge. As her wound stopped bleeding and her heart stopped pounding, she glared at Jake. "Don't touch my hair again!" she said in for once a normal voice instead of her squeaky whisper. Just then her stomach began to growl, asking for more crimson treats. No, she thought to herself intently, I will not feed, not after denying the fact that I am a vampire to that man. He would probably laugh and say 'I told you so!' like my idiot of a brother.

Jake held his hands up in surrender, "Alright, alright, I was just curious." Jake said in an amused voice, completely unafraid of Matthieu's glare and from what he'd seen so far, uncharacteristic loud voice. He raised an eyebrow as he heard the growl, "Didn't you just eat? How are you hungry again so soon?" Jake asked incredulously. Inwardly though, Jake realized that Matthieu was probably hungry for blood, probably as a snack after those pancakes she ate just now. Jake also realized that he was probably getting on Matthieu's bad side rather fast after that incident just now and with how much he was pestering her about things.

"S-Shut up, you big git!" Matthieu said slowly reverting back to her quiet voice, "And don't you dare call me fat either! I've been trying to keep a slim body as you can see" She gestured to her supposedly thin body although it was hard to tell from all the baggy clothing she wore. I can wait a little longer she told herself, seemingly oblivious to the fact that she just repeated one of her mother's many curses, Right?
