Reunion

Her first day back. She felt so lonely. A couple people walked by. She didn't feel comfortable with them around. She just stared at the ground. She decided to take a seat on one of the benches. Her scythe bumped into the bench whens he tried the first time. She shifted further back to make it fit. She took a deep breath and shut her eyes. She held her books close to her chest. She didn't like this place so far. Too many people. She didn't know if anyone knew her. Why was her head so empty? Why did it hurt so much?

Rayne was staring at a piece of paper as he walked the courtyard, something golden caught his eye and he looked up at what it was. He saw her and he stopped in his tracks, he just dropped the now meaningless paper and slowly walked towards Kasi in a half-daze. He started to wonder if this was real or another of his hallucinations. He looked at her and if it wasn't her it was her twin, "Kasi?"

She her somebody speak towards her. No... she didn't want taunting. Wait... That sounded similar to her name. But her name was Kasabana. No Kasi. They were close, though. She opened her eyes up. It was a boy. She didn't know who he was. She guessed he was referring to her. She just looked in his direction. She couldn't say anything. She was feeling embarrassed. She really hoped things would be okay.

Rayne dropped to his knees, "Kasi, it's me. It's Rayne." Something didn't feel right. He sat next to her on the bench and looked at her, "Hey, what's wrong? It's me, Rayne. Y'know the guy who basically let you stay with him for a few months?" He saw the scythe on her back and his eyes lit up, "You still have it, after all this time you still have the scythe."

He was talking to her in such a friendly manor. She chewed her lip. He was teasing her. This was going to be bad by the end of it. She knew it. Her heart was beating fast. "I..." He was making fun of the fact that she couldn't remember anything. "Please... stop..." She didn't want this to turn out bad. She didn't like taunting. She didn't like it...

He looked at her in the eyes and sighed, "No, no no no no." He drooped his head as he sat next to her, "You lost your memory...You don't remember me, do you?" He looked up and a tear rolled down his cheek. He put his hand on hers and spoke, "I'm here for you. I don't care if it's temporary or permanent. I will always be there for you."

She was so scared. He was touching her. She didn't know what to do. She shook. She didn't know what he was talking about. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath. She didn't know... he might be telling the truth. She had no idea. "Prove it... please... I don't... I don't understand..." She was terrified. Her entire body was tense. She felt sick. The boy was touching her. The boy might be lying to her. She didn't know anything. She hated this. She wanted to be alone...

He looked her in the eyes and then away for a second. He leaned in close and pulled the sleeve of his jacket up. There it was, the K he had tattooed on his wrist, "I had this done a little while after you left. I didn't think you'd ever come back." At that moment he pulled the latex skin colored glove and arm cover off and from his wrist to his forearm was her full first name.

She opened her eyes. He had it tattooed onto his arm. That was her name. She reached out her hand and tentatively touched it. Her finger traced along it. She was shocked. "I'm... I'm sorry." Her voice was low and quiet. I was a real tattoo. She bit hard on her lip. She pulled her hand back to her lap. She looked down at the ground, then into the boy's eyes. "I can't remember anything... I'm so sorry..." She must have been close to this boy. She felt so bad. It was probably her fault. She probably hurt him. She felt so sad.

Rayne felt a shiver go up his spine as she touched his arm. He leaned in and kissed the top of her head, "It wasn't your fault." He had a good idea of what she was thinking, even though she didn't remember anything her facial expressions and reactions for the most part were the same. He pulled her into a hug and smiled. He was just glad that she was back. He pulled away for a second, "What do you remember?" He asked.

Her eyes shut when he touched the top of her head. She was hugged. She started shaking. She didn't like this kind of contact. She wanted it to stop. Even if she might've been close to him before, she didn't know him at all anymore. Not even his name. "P-please stop... please..." She couldn't move. She tried to make herself smaller. She wanted him to stop touching her. She felt so cold. So alone. She hoped he was nice. She didn't know... she didn't want him to hurt her.

Rayne pulled away, "I'm sorry. I just, I've missed you a lot and here you are." He put his hand out for a handshake and smiled, "I'm Rayne Smith. I'm a senior here at Darks." He'd stand up and brush his knees off and spoke up, "Do you want a tour around the campus." He stopped and he couldn't help but smile from ear-to-ear, "You gave me my tour my first day, and here I am trying to give you a tour your second, first day."

The boy let go of her. She opened her eyes up and let out a sigh of relief. She needed a second to recollect herself. She looked up. The boy was standing. He held out a hand for her. She reached up and took it, pulling herself to her feet. Her grip was delicate. She looked into his eyes. "Oh..." His name was Rayne. Apparently she gave him a tour. She didn't know how long she was here. "I'm Kasabana Taiyou. I guess I'm a Sophomore. And... I can't remember anything." She chewed on her lip. "You called me Kasi... Did I like that name?"

"You referred to yourself with that shortening, so I'd say so." He held onto her hand a little too long, but caught himself and pulled away. He started to walk to the men's dorms and turned around to see if Kasi was following him. He'd turn around and continue to walk towards the males dorms, "These are the male dorms, the female dorms are across the way." He pointed towards the building across away and the headed towards the gym.

Oh. She liked to be called that. She guessed it did sound sorta cute. She could try it out. She smiled a little. The boy started to lead her. She followed behind him. He showed her the dorms. She nodded. She walked close to him. There were other people around. She preferred to be close to him rather than others. She watched the ground most of the time. She wanted to thank the boy, but didn't know how. She just followed him. He seemed nice. It was a little odd that he got a tattoo of her name. She didn't completely understand that, but she guessed it was sweet.

He pulled the door for the gym open and held it for Kasi, when she entered he'd follow her, "Downstairs is the training area, a lot of the times it's pretty empty although every once in a while you'll find someone in there. Upstairs is a weight training room, pool, and lockers." He walked outside and pointed at the biggest building, "That's the main building, it holds the restaurant, classes, teachers offices, a bunch of stuff. You hungry though?"

The boy showed her the gym. She didn't plan on spending much time there. It didn't seem like the place for her. She followed the boy back out. She looked at the main building. That's where she got her class list. She nodded. "Yeah, a little." She stood fairly close behind the boy. She twiddled her fingers together. She was happy somebody was caring for her. It would be sad if she had to figure everything out on her own. She smiled a little.

Rayne smiled, "Alright, let's go. The restaurant is a five star restaurant and is free, although the best Chinese food I've ever had I got in Megiddo." He walked towards the restaurant and looked at Kasi, "So, what do you remember?" He opened the door for Kasi and entered, "Table for two." He put Kasi in front of him as the waiter walked them to their table.

The boy led her to the restaurant. He stood behind her. She just followed the wait. She sat in her chair. She stared at the tablecloth. It was so clean. She looked up to the boy. "I don't remember anything. I woke up in the forest... I had a student ID on me with my name and the school on it. That's all I know..." She hoped she didn't upset the boy. She felt bad that she couldn't remember anything. She wondered if the boy could fill her in. She didn't know if she wanted to know. Maybe there was a reasons she forgot.

Rayne nodded his head and looked up as a waiter came to their table, "Just get me some water, a steak medium well, and some steak fries." He looked over at Kasi, "You can get anything you want here." He watched as the waiter took Kasi's order and he smiled, "Look there's no pressure to remember anything. As much as I want you to, I'd rather it come back in a safe way than forced."

She looked at the waiter. Anything... She could order anything. "Could I get... some macaroni and cheese?" A little childish of an order, but it was the first thing that came to mind. "And water... please..." She waited for the waiter to leave before she looked to the boy again. "Alright... thank you..." He was being so nice to her. She held her hands in her lap. "Thank you so much for helping me out here. I've been pretty lonely since I got here..."

Rayne sat in the chair pretty casually, both hands on the table as he fiddled with his silverware, "It's no problem. Just reciprocating what you did for me my first day." He smiled faintly as the waiter came back with their food, "It's actually been a while since I've eaten here. I don't really stay in my room here either. I have a loft in Megiddo and I usually end up staying there."

She just nodded. "I don't have a living situation yet. They said I should get a dorm room..." She kept her eyes on her food. She didn't want to look up at the boy. She had a problem with eye contact, she guessed. She was still learning thigs about herself. She put her hand on her fork, but didn't lift it up. She felt so out of place.

He nodded his head, he didn't really feel like eating his food either. He found he could stomach a few bites of his steak, but for the most part and he just kinda stared at it. "Maybe we should go to the place where you woke up?" He took a drink of his water after he said that and then looked up at Kasi.

She picked up her fork and poked it into the food. She lifted it up and took a bite. She swallowed. She looked into the boy's eyes, but looked away right after. "Maybe it could help... I looked around everywhere. Anything that could help me know who I was. There wasn't much there." She set her fork down and started to twiddle her fingers again. She glanced up at the boy and broke eye contact again. She didn't feel comfortable with things like this.
